SaliCAD 2.1 has been released.

New binary format

Starting from version 2.0, in addition to the text json file format, a packaged binary format has been added, which allows you to significantly reduce the space occupied by the project. By default, the binary format is used. The project can still be saved in text format.

New local storage

Starting with version 2.0, the local storage system has been completely redesigned. Now each object of the local library is stored as a separate file and can be accessed from the computer's file system. Accordingly, you can now manually add and delete library files, for example, you can completely transfer the library from one computer to another, you can easily add objects from your colleagues' libraries or download them from the Internet.

The changes made with the local library allow you to use it on a distributed resource, i.e. by placing the library on a local server and configuring the paths to it for all users, you get a fully shared library.

Together with the local storage, the storage format in the global repository has changed. Automatic downloads from the global repository are made for all users. The placement of components in the global repository is available only for registered users.

Full 3d support

Starting with version 2.0, full 3d support is added. In addition to the 2d representation of the case, you can add a 3d representation. This addition is carried out by importing ready-made models in vrml 1.0 and 2.0 format.

SaliCAD is also equipped with a powerful parametric script editor for 3d models with which you can build a 3d model of a component without using any additional tools, which radically distinguishes SaliCAD from other design systems.

Support for calculations in the schematic diagram

Since version 2.0, SaliCAD supports scripts for calculating circuit parameters. Such scripts provide calculations not only by formulas, but also with the use of conditions and cycles, allowing you to form complex multivariate calculations.

The calculation results can not only be displayed on the diagram, but also change the corresponding associated parameters of the components. In other words, as a result of the calculation, the nominal value of the component can be automatically set.
